Dance & movement
At its heart, this is a practice of movement.
Dance meditation — a holistic approach that merges the physicality of dance with the mindfulness of meditation.
It involves moving your body to music in a free, expressive, and mindful manner — a way to connect with your emotions, unblock suppressed feelings, and release pent-up energy.
Unlike traditional forms of meditation that rely on stillness, dance meditation uses movement as a medium to reach mental clarity and emotional release.
“I’ve always loved dance — for me, it’s one of the fastest ways out of my head and into the moment.”
There’s something about moving without a plan or a “right way” to do it that pulls you out of overthinking and back into your body, which is exactly what somatic work is trying to help you do too. It’s why the two sit so naturally together for me.
Nothing here requires performance or skill.
I know dancing, especially freely and without choreography, can bring up real discomfort for a lot of people — self-consciousness, awkwardness, a fear of being watched or getting it “wrong.” That’s completely understandable.
This is offered gently, for anyone curious about using movement as part of their own process — in your own time, at your own pace, and entirely without judgement.
